A BOY
AND HIS DOG
"My name is Snoop.
As you can see, I am a very handsome Bassett Hound.
Jory, a boy who had always wanted a dog, and I found
each other through unusual circumstances. A kind lady
named Jamiee found me wandering the highway on a dark,
cold evening. She took me home and called Pet Pals to
see if we could help. An ad was placed in the paper
for several days but no-one claimed me, and the local
shelter had no report of anyone looking for me. Why,
I can't imagine, because I am such a sweet boy! Pet
Pals put me into foster care with Marliss, a new Pet
Pals volunteer, and her son Jory until a new adoptive
home could be located. A trip to the vet to have me
neutered was the next step. Can you imagine? Running
around the countryside unaltered? Think of all the unwanted
puppies I could have fathered!" |
| "Marliss and Jory
took very good care of me. If my eyes look a bit droopy
it's because I had just come back from my 'neutering'
procedure. That wasn't much fun! Over the next few weeks
Jorey and I became best friends. And you know what? My
mom decided that I was the best and most perfect choice
to be Jory's first dog. So they adopted me! |

"I am just the
happiest dog. Jory and I are inseparable. Now I help
Marliss and Jory foster other Pet Pals dogs waiting
for new homes. Since I am such a gentle soul I let the
pups we foster have their way. I just roll over and
smile whenever they get a bit bossy. Yes, it is a good
life. Thank you to Jaimee for rescuing me and to Pet
Pals for finding me such a wonderful family!" |

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way
its animals are treated... I hold that, the more helpless a creature,
the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man."

pain, we all feel joy, we all deeply crave to be alive and to live

WHY ANIMALS ON A PAGEANT WEBSITE???
This is something that I am anxiously wanting to answer. I and most pageants
promote the delegates to share what they believe in or what charity
they favor. I own a family ranch/farm 15 minutes from my house in
South Dakota where I keep animals. My door (or gate) is always open
to any animal in need. These pictures are my animals that I have now.
I am sharing with you what my belief is, and what I promote.
~~~~~KINDNESS TO ALL ANIMALS~~~~~
I am spreading the word and promoting being kind to animals. Which means stopping
abuse, ending puppy mills and stores that sell pets, abuse to farm
animals, stopping laboratory animals, contacting Legislative/Congress
to have strict laws for abusers, stop all poachers, enforcing the
federal law that President Eisenhower's signed "Humane Slaughter Act",
a complete stop to all hunting, ban factory farming, boycotting veal,
ending circuses, ending cockfighting, and many other miscellaneous
causes that have to do with animals rights and safety.
If you can not donate money $ there are many other things
to donate. Your time is most important. You can help at the shelters,
get the word out in your community, sign up with organizations to
write letters for different causes, donate items around your house
for uses, and just set an example for our children for our new generation
to live an animal friendly life.
Here are a couple of other ideas as well you can do.
Animal Testing in Laboratories
I urge you to stop using products by companies who do animal testing.
If you were aware of the pain these animals go through it would shock
you. Hundreds of companies develop and manufacture safe and effective
consumer products without animal testing. They use newer, more effective
methods such as human cell cultures, chemical tests and computer models.
It is getting better and better everyday so I am really asking of
you to help this cause and use other animal friendly products. Look
in your local grocery store and you will be surprised how many new
companies are out there who WILL NOT make their product with the involvement
of harming animals.
Some of the companies that I AM BANNING AGAINST ARE:
Alberto-Culver (St. Ives, Static Guard, Tresemme, VO5, Sally
Beauty)
Bausch & Lomb, Inc. (Liz Claiborne Eyewear, Miracle Ear, Ray-Ban,
Soft Lense)
Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (Clairol, Sea Breeze, Vavoom,
Alpha Keri, Final Net, Loving Care)
Colgate-Palmolive Company (Baby Magic, Irish Spring, Science
Diet, Palmolive Soap, Handiwipes)
Johnson & Johnson (Neutrogena, Band-Aid, O.b Tampons, Shower
to Shower, Acuvue)
Unilever United States, Inc. (Calvin Klein Cosmetics, Cheseborough
Pond's, Chloe, Elizabeth Taylor)
Procter & Gamble (Cover Girl Cosmetics, Max Factor, Oil of
Olay, Vidal Sassoon, Bounce, Downey)
THE NAMELESS STRAY
I used to know this family; I met them as a pup.
I guess they never realized someday I would grow up.
"Come here, Jack, come and play" I remember they would call,
but as time went on, I stayed alone, they never called at all,
They would come out back to give me water and make sure I was fed,
and if I was really lucky they would pat me on the head.
But then I'd get excited and I'd jump and try to play,
they would push me back away again," Get off me, Jack!" they'd say.
The days got so much longer as I sat there all alone,
I could see them laugh and play through the windows of their home.
One day they brought a leash and said, "Come on Boy, lets go"
and the horrors that would follow I could never know.
As they put me out I heard them say, "Someone will take him home."
Without a word or backward glance, suddenly they were gone.
I was sure that they'd come back for me, this was all a mistake!
The thought that they would leave me here, I just could not take.
All night I waited in that spot, wondering what to do,
another dog walked by, head hung low, guess he'd been left here, too.
I can't remember just how long I lived out on the street,
eventually I got sick and thin, as food was obsolete
One day I found I was so weak that I couldn't even stand,
as starvation overcame me, I felt a gentle hand.
They lifted me into a truck and said, "It'll be all right."
They took me to a shelter where I was to spend the night.
They gave me water and some food and then on the next day,
"We have to end his suffering. He's sick" I heard them say
They took me to a quiet room and talked real sweet to me,
"Just a little stick, ol' boy, and then you'll be set free."
As I was getting sleepier, they stroked gently on my face,
and I thought about the family, wondered who would take my place.
Whatever wrong that I had done, I hoped he wouldn't do the same.
Life's too hard when you're all alone and no one knows your name.
So while my pain is ending and life slowly drifts away,
I hope someone remembers me, I'm Jack, the nameless stray.
